-
00:00:00Happy Friday everyone.
-
00:00:02It's Stephen Whiteside here from theuptrend.com in the pre market this
-
00:00:06morning, stock index futures are above fair value.
-
00:00:09We also have commodities trading higher in the pre market.
-
00:00:12So so far it looks like we're going to see some buying at the Open on Friday morning.
-
00:00:17While yesterday's trading action tells us that the market has really shrugged off
-
00:00:20everything the Fed had to say on Wednesday.
-
00:00:23The VIX had a quiet day on Thursday.
-
00:00:26Looking for a close on Friday above 15.29. Big drop in the US dollar on Thursday.
-
00:00:32Big gain in the euro and the Canadian dollar made a new high for this move.
-
00:00:36So lots of movement in global currencies.
-
00:00:39Now what worked yesterday?
-
00:00:40Well, the Dow, which was the big loser on Wednesday, was the big winner on Thursday
-
00:00:45and it was led higher by Microsoft making a new high on Thursday.
-
00:00:50Then we had the S&P 500 followed by the Nasdaq.
-
00:00:53So the Nasdaq did not lead us higher on Thursday.
-
00:00:57The world is still focused on AI and C3AI made a new high on Thursday.
-
00:01:04Then looking at Apple.
-
00:01:05Apple also put in a new high.
-
00:01:07I am still long.
-
00:01:08Apple with a partial position.
-
00:01:10Then looking at the Canadian market, very quiet day for the Ishares for the TSX 60.
-
00:01:15We closed higher on the day while having an inside day.
-
00:01:18So a day of indecision.
-
00:01:20The Canadian market was led higher by
-
00:01:22energy which is still trading in the channel.
-
00:01:25It was an inside day for the energy sector.
-
00:01:27So we're still on a buy signal here.
-
00:01:29A lot of interest in energy on Thursday with natural gas shooting higher.
-
00:01:34It is higher again in the pre market this morning.
-
00:01:37So Nat Gas back on a buy signal that can help the energy sector.
-
00:01:41Financials also held up fairly well on Thursday.
-
00:01:44Both financials and the banks themselves.
-
00:01:47We're still dealing with a lot of open gaps.
-
00:01:49You'll see that in a second.
-
00:01:51Manulife actually rolled over on Thursday.
-
00:01:53So while the rest of the financial sector
-
00:01:55was going higher, manualife is back on a sell signal.
-
00:01:59TD bank was up.
-
00:02:00It is trading up into the open gap there
-
00:02:04and we'll have to see if we can break through so far we've been on a buy signal
-
00:02:07for five days now and the pros still have not taken control.
-
00:02:11So that's a little bit of a concern, but
-
00:02:14certainly there's no evidence of selling so far, but we do want the pros to come
-
00:02:19back and take control to get these stocks back on track.
-
00:02:23Okay folks, that is all for this morning's presentation.
-
00:02:27There wasn't a lot new that happened on Thursday.
-
00:02:30Lots of movement in the currency market.
-
00:02:33Otherwise the stock market is still going higher and still extremely overbought.
-
00:02:38Right now it's very dangerous to take on new positions.
-
00:02:42But while I say that the market is still
-
00:02:45going higher and that is the fact, we have to deal with.
-
00:02:48Enjoy the rest of your day.
-
00:02:50Enjoy your weekend.
-
00:02:51Next time you'll hear my voice is on Sunday.
