-
00:00:00Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Thursday morning.
-
00:00:02It's Stephen Whiteside here from theuptrend.
-
00:00:05com. In the pre-market this morning, stock
-
00:00:07index futures are currently above fair value.
-
00:00:10Commodities are mixed with crude oil
-
00:00:11slightly lower, while gold is slightly higher.
-
00:00:14Now, we do have a lot of economic numbers coming up this morning, including US
-
00:00:18jobless claims that could certainly change the direction of the market.
-
00:00:22But so far, it looks like the market wants to do some buying.
-
00:00:25Now, the VIX is still on a buy signal, and
-
00:00:27there's lots of reasons for that while there's still stress in the market.
-
00:00:31At the same time, semiconductors are still leading the market higher.
-
00:00:35The Dow is still on a sell signal.
-
00:00:37The S&P 500 and Nasdaq are still on buy signals here.
-
00:00:41Not much changed on Wednesday.
-
00:00:43We've got Apple and Tesla still making lower lows.
-
00:00:47We still have meta on a buy signal.
-
00:00:48That hasn't changed.
-
00:00:50Nvidia continuing to move higher.
-
00:00:51It looks like they may want to take NVIDIA right up to $1,000.
-
00:00:55And Super Micro made a new closing high on Wednesday.
-
00:01:00Now moving on to the Canadian stock market.
-
00:01:02The TSX hitting new highs yesterday.
-
00:01:05Everything's working at the moment.
-
00:01:07We've got the TSX, the TSX 60, mid-caps,
-
00:01:10small caps, and microcaps, all ranked at 10 at the moment.
-
00:01:14It is the energy sector that's leading the
-
00:01:16Canadian market higher at the moment, and financials are doing very well.
-
00:01:21We've got the income trust back up at the
-
00:01:23previous highs, and we've got industrials have been rocking for quite a while now.
-
00:01:28They had a slight pullback yesterday, but still on a buy signal, no change.
-
00:01:32What's not working, the telecom stocks are the weakest at the moment.
-
00:01:36Now, if we look at what happened
-
00:01:37yesterday, it was materials that led the market higher up over 1%.
-
00:01:42Healthcare, real estate, and the industrials were on the losing side.
-
00:01:45In the material sector, Lithium Americas,
-
00:01:49the Argentina version was up over 10%, and then its sister company was up over 7%,
-
00:01:55and then looking at goals, IAMGold was up over 6% on the day.
-
00:02:00Now, if we look at the most actives, we do not have any trend changes here.
-
00:02:04Suncor is still doing very well.
-
00:02:06No change there.
-
00:02:07No change for Canadian Natural Resources.
-
00:02:10Manulife has been in the channel for the past couple of days.
-
00:02:13A close below 32,17 on Thursday would give us a new daily sell signal for Manulife.
-
00:02:20Bayex has been on a sell signal for a few days now.
-
00:02:22No change there.
-
00:02:23No change for Cenovus.
-
00:02:25Inside day for Kinross on Wednesday.
-
00:02:28No change for Bitfarm.
-
00:02:31Then we've got Tamarack making a new high for this move.
-
00:02:34We've got Athabasca making a new high for this move.
-
00:02:38So no changes in any of those stocks.
-
00:02:40And then we've got Barrick making a new high for this move on Wednesday.
-
00:02:45Looking at the commodities, starting off
-
00:02:48with the miners, we've got copper up on the day yesterday.
-
00:02:51We've got gold moving higher.
-
00:02:52We've got silver moving higher,
-
00:02:54and we can see the iShares for the TSX Global Gold ETF making a A new high for
-
00:03:00this move, starting to break out above the high from a month ago, but did not
-
00:03:06close above that level yesterday, so that is still acting as resistance.
-
00:03:11And then next up, let's look at the energy sector.
-
00:03:13We had crude oil up on the day yesterday, trying to make a new high for this move.
-
00:03:19Slight pullback this morning, natural gas
-
00:03:21still on a buy signal, small pullback yesterday.
-
00:03:24And then looking at the energy index
-
00:03:27itself, as we saw earlier, it made a new high on Wednesday.
-
00:03:30So it is the energy sector leading the Canadian market higher.
-
00:03:35Okay, folks, that is all I wanted to cover this morning.
-
00:03:38As you can see, no major trend changes from Wednesday's trading activity.
-
00:03:43Again, we have US jobless claims coming out later this morning that could
-
00:03:46certainly change the direction of the market.
-
00:03:49But so far, things look pretty positive.
-
00:03:52Have a great day, folks.
-
00:03:53Next time you'll hear my voice is on Friday morning.
