00:00:00Good morning, everyone. Welcome to Friday morning.
-
00:00:02It's Stephen Whiteside here from the
-
00:00:03uptrend.com in the pre market this morning, things are fairly quiet ahead of
-
00:00:08employment numbers that are coming out at 8:30 this morning.
-
00:00:12And of course, if the employment numbers
-
00:00:13are good, that could be bad for the stock market.
-
00:00:16If the employment numbers are really bad, that could be good for the stock market.
-
00:00:19So we'll have to just wait and see how that works out.
-
00:00:23But I do need to record this before for
-
00:00:25those numbers come out or it'll never get published before the market opens.
-
00:00:29So here we go.
-
00:00:30Now, I've probably mentioned this several
-
00:00:32times this week, but this is a holiday shortened week.
-
00:00:34A lot of people are still on vacation.
-
00:00:37So however today ends up, I'm not going to take it too seriously.
-
00:00:41I think everybody will be back at their
-
00:00:43desks next week and that's where we should really pay attention.
-
00:00:47And as you can see, the VIX is still
-
00:00:49treading water here, still trading in the Channel.
-
00:00:51Yesterday was an inside day.
-
00:00:53We did see the US dollar index move up yesterday.
-
00:00:56Of course, corresponding currencies move down.
-
00:00:59Then we've got bonds.
-
00:01:00Bonds have been trading in the channel for the past two days, hitting the upper
-
00:01:04channel line, still on a sell signal, no change there.
-
00:01:07Then we saw gold move up on Wednesday,
-
00:01:10tried to hit 1875, pulled back just before that.
-
00:01:14And there we see gold down yesterday.
-
00:01:17We still need to close on Friday below 1814.12 to give us a sell signal.
-
00:01:24We still have crude oil on a Sell signal holding $72 at the moment.
-
00:01:28Natural gas making a new low yesterday, so no change in direction for natural gas.
-
00:01:33The Dow diamonds still treading water
-
00:01:36here, still on a cell signal, no change in trend for the S&P 500 or the Nasdaq 100.
-
00:01:41And then the Ishares for the TSX 60.
-
00:01:43Still on a sell signal, no change there.
-
00:01:46Then looking at the energy sector,
-
00:01:48canadian energy stock still on a sell signal.
-
00:01:51It looks like they're trying to find support at Wednesday's lows.
-
00:01:55Then we've got US energy stocks still haven't broken down below the December
-
00:02:00lows trading back in the Channel yesterday.
-
00:02:03Then we're looking at gold miners.
-
00:02:05The GDX pulled back yesterday, while the
-
00:02:08Ishares for the TSX Global Gold index actually closed up a penny on the day.
-
00:02:14Then we're looking at Apple, as we've been talking about Apple for a while now,
-
00:02:18looking to see if it can hold support at 125.
-
00:02:22It closed at 125.02.
-
00:02:25And if we start breaking down below 125,
-
00:02:27I'm sure a lot of people are going to be expecting it to head down to $100.
-
00:02:32And then Tesla, tesla has been trading
-
00:02:34water for the past couple of days, still trading above $100.
-
00:02:38That's the big area of psychological support.
-
00:02:42And if you're bullish, of course you're hoping that Tesla holds 100.
-
00:02:46If you're bearish and looking for it to head to 62.
-
00:02:4950. Then you want it to break $100.
-
00:02:51And last up this morning, Microsoft.
-
00:02:53Microsoft got clipped the other day.
-
00:02:55It continued lower on Thursday.
-
00:02:57So it looks like it wants to head down to retest those November lows.
-
00:03:02Okay, that's all I want to say for this morning's presentation.
-
00:03:05Again, employment numbers coming out at 8:30.
-
00:03:08And of course, the market is going to
-
00:03:10overreact to whatever the numbers are, whether they're bullish or bearish.
-
00:03:15And then things will wait till next week
-
00:03:18before we really see the market head in a particular direction.
-
00:03:23Have a great day, folks. Have a great weekend.
-
00:03:25Next time you'll hear my voice is on Sunday.
-
00:03:57Thank you.
